I've had to make the following changes to build the plugin in Ubuntu 18.04. Just letting you know so you have the option to integrate this in your repository if you think this is a good idea. (I'm not sure if it is because pkg-config fails when it doesn't find something, so this might cause the build to fail on other Linux distributions)
